About Us

From the beginning, the endeavor has been blessed by those eager to serve and to share.  Some have come to clean and to paint. Others donate time to do paperwork, to greet guests at the door, to cook meals, to do laundry. But most importantly, to provide community.

We have had guests come from most of the 50 states, as well as foreign countries. Even with this apparent disconnection among guests, all have provided comfort and encouragement to one another amidst their struggles. One of our first guests did a sketch that is now used on the Friary’s letterhead!

Over the past 35 years, the Little Portion Friary has continued to work with various workers, donors, and guests to help meet basic needs, such as food, shelter, and clothing. As a result, we aim to support each guest’s goals and needs, helping them take their own steps toward a more stable life.

As we almost entirely depend on the efforts of our volunteer workers, we hold them close and remain grateful for their generosity that have sustained us since our founding day.
